Last month I set up a new blog at EditYourWeb.com as a place to post general wiki-related thoughts, news and ideas. In the past I've posted those here. Though I will reference Edit Your Web posts here when I think my customers would be interested, this will be a more strictly product-focused blog going forward.

I'm doing this because wiki has become a household word. More and more people are using wikis at work as companies take on wiki initiatives internally for intranets and knowledge bases, and externally for technical documentation and client engagement. And niche wikis that dive into a particular topic are starting to show that Wikipedia is not the be all and end all of public access wikis. WetPaint has made the fan wiki a staple marketing requirement for every TV show, and free wiki offerings from established companies like PBWiki and Google have eliminated any financial barrier to entry, even if they are limited in scope or a front for a much more expensive product. Open source wikis, which I will be giving special focus to at Edit Your Web, have become power-houses of wiki functionality, but remain too technical for most lay wiki owners to easily set up and configure.

As a professional passionate about accessible content management and in particular the wiki way, I wanted to be able to write about these things outside the scope of EditMe marketing. The Edit Your Web blog isn't about EditMe - it's about wikis and accessible web content management in general.

The full reasoning behind this change will become clearer in the coming months, but in the meantime, you'll see this area focus more specifically on EditMe news and announcements and less on general wiki news and trends.
