Last night EditMe released an update that includes some things left out of the previous release for scheduling reasons, along with fixes to many issues customers have experienced since the last upgrade.
Feature and Usability Enhancements
- Change notification emails now exclude the recipients own changes. This means you will no longer see your own changes listed in the recent changes email notifications. If you are the only person to have changed the site, you will not receive an email notification.
- The Rename Page function is now built into the editing screen. The page title and name can be toggled and changed in one place.
- The attachments tab now displays for new pages that haven't been saved yet. If a file is attached to a page before it is saved, an initial version of the page is automatically created.
- The new Office 2007 document types are now supported as attachments (downloading these was a problem in Internet Explorer previously).
- Editor mode buttons (Rich Text, Code Editor, Plain Text) are now highlighted to indicate the current mode.
- Each tab of the new editing screen now has a Help link that goes to the corresponding page on the support wiki.
- Context-sensitive help provides feature-specific tips and a link to the wiki beneath the editor when certain features are used (rename, mark deleted, etc.).
- Hidden pages and attachments are no longer included in the Recent Changes page and RSS feed for users who are not logged in.
- The Hidden attribute for attachments is now used to indicate a minor edit in the Recent Changes list.
- The Comment form editor now has the same inline dialogs (instead of pop-ups) that the main editor has.
Bug Fixes
- In the rich text editor, the table cell properties dialog now closes properly.
- A blank line is now inserted into legacy pages that end in a table to prevent the situation where content cannot be inserted after a table at the end of the page.
- The editor has been updated to fix dozens of other minor bugs.
- An explanatory message is now displayed in the yellow notification area if a file larger than 250MB is attached. Previously the upload just quietly failed.
- Internet Explorer now properly displays the "Attachment updated." message when the Hide or Delete check boxes are clicked.
- The Check All link in the Deleted Pages administration screen now works properly in Internet Explorer.
- The standard deleted page warning (Note: This page is marked for deletion.) has been added to the Acton and Classic skins. Skins must be reapplied to get this change.
Development Changes (for Developers)
- Scripted pages can now be included using an [[include:]] directive along with support for passed arguments. This makes it easy to integrate scripted pages into non-scripted pages.
- New util object methods: trim, startsWith, endsWith, contains.
- The Recent Changes page can now be customized.
- Powerful new stateful HTTP client with support for headers and basic authentication. This opens up the API to many RESTful APIs like Twitter, Flickr and Delicious. Libraries for using these services will be made available within the next few months.
- There is now an event raised when a page is renamed.
Watch the wiki over the next day or two for updates to the API documentation that describe these new features in detail.
