Happy Holidays! December has been an exciting month for EditMe. Here are some highlights:
================================= PC Magazine Editor's Choice Award
The December 30th issue of PC Magazine features an article about wiki tools, and EditMe is reviewed along with six other tools. PC Magazine awarded EditMe its coveted Editor's Choice for the easy WYSIWYG editing capabilities and flexible security options. EditMe subscribers know that EditMe is much more than a wiki tool, but we're excited to be recognized in this way. Read the full article here:
The first EditMe license is sold! A European non-profit organization has purchased EditMe to run a number of collaboration sites on their own server. Interested parties can now read about our licensed offering at http://www.editme.com/Licensed. This license is a full-on EditMe server. Less expensive licensing options for smaller installations will be added soon.
==================================== Better Handling of Locked-Down Sites
After several requests from customers, and based on the number of EditMe sites that are "locked down" for members-only access, the "Access Denied" screen has been replaced with a Login form with a Registration link (if registration is enabled). Also, the Menu, Search, Index, and Recently Changed pages are now unavailable to public users if the site's default Page Security setting is "Registered View" or "Administrator View". Finally, the Login form now sends the user to the originally requested page after logging in.
============== Custom Domains
EditMe now supports custom domains. This means you can point www.yourdomain.com to your EditMe site. For details, see http://help.editme.com/CustomDomains.
======= Backups
Several customers have asked for a backup mechanism. Of course, your sites are backed up daily at our data center, but you can also make your own backup copy of your EditMe site using any of several "offline browsing" tools. We highlight one particularly useful tool and offer some tips at http://help.editme.com/Backup.
